SAF Program Air France KLM Martinair CARGO

Afurther step towards a sustainable fuel industry and the reduction of the environmental impact of air transport.

In 2022 Ferrari Group participated in the Air France KLM Martinair Cargo Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Programme, aimed at advancing sustainable air transport by reducing Co2 emissions.

The investment enabled sourcing 31,6 metric tons of SAF, resulting in an 894% reduction in carbon emissions compared to regular kerosene. This translates to a carbon footprint reduction of 110,6 CO2 equivalent metric tons for Ferrari.

This investment is renewed for 2023.

The SAF used was certified by RSB (Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials) and ISCC (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification), ensuring high sustainability standards. The fuel was derived from waste oils, specifically ‘yellow grease’ or used cooking oil, a sustainable choice that doesn’t compete with food production.

The SAF life cycle analysis showed significant greenhouse gas emission savings, aligned with the CORSIA (Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation) standards.

This program reflects Ferrari’s broader commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable practices in its operations.
